A Nudge from the Universe

We are timeless spiritual beings having a human experience and when we are born we are one with this.   As we grow up in our families and in the world we forget the truth of who we are.  It’s meant to be this way even though sometimes it can feel like a cruel joke.  We all always have the potential to recognize our true essence.   If you look at infants and babies it is easy to see and feel their purity and oneness with the truth. Nothing is yet obstructing it and it’s why everyone loves babies so much!

I know the word spiritual can even cause confusion.  Like spiritual people are the only ones who have access to this profound and powerful truth.  This is simply not true.  Simply put spiritual seekers often live consciously to embrace and know who they are but everyone is on the same road so to speak whether they know it or not.  It’s kind of funny like that. One thing is for sure, being conscious and open does amplify the power of your essence and your path forward.

In case you hadn’t noticed I use essence and truth interchangeably but there are many ways to refer to what I’m speaking about ~ divine essence, truth of who you are, your center, true self, source, God-self, life force and so on.  Words are inadequate when it comes to describing what I am sharing with you and words can only point you in the general direction. It’s similar to seeing a road sign with the name of a town on it. You can read the name but you can only know the town by going there and experiencing it. Life is full of pointers that our mind understands are sign posts indicating what direction to go in.  If you want ice cream don’t follow a sign that sends you to a liquor store.  Knowledge of something is helpful but when it’s discovered in an experiential way then it is transformational, life altering and unforgettable.  It’s why so many people can talk about something for a long time in therapy but suddenly the penny drops when they experience the changes in their life.

So where am I going with this…it’s time to awaken!!  Maybe you’ve heard?  Why do I say this?  Because it’s part of human evolution.  Evolution continues not in terms of our outer appearance anymore but on the inner.  Our consciousness itself evolves and we have the potential to become more wise, compassionate and loving humans.  Not through trying harder to be a better person; these qualities arise naturally from being seated in the truth.  Evolution can’t be stopped we can only either grab ahold of it consciously or be knocked around until we wake up to the truth.  We’ve been getting  knocked pretty hard lately and a lot of people have begun looking inside, growing quickly and awakening as a result.

If you feel intrigued by what I’m speaking of please feel free to reach out to me and I can point you in the right direction to the best of my ability.  These are definitely exciting times we are living in with tremendous opportunity to make this discovery for yourself.

Are you being nudged by the universe?  You are now!!

You are More Powerful than You Know…

I’m going to write a little bit about how energy works so for those of you new to energy and how it operates I am going to ask you to contemplate some of the ideas that I talk about in this blog.

Energy follows thought.  This one is pretty basic and it is in operation all the time.  We all use it whenever we want to manifest something in our lives.  For example when you are buying a new car it all starts with an initial thought and from there you move through a process until ultimately you end up with the car of your choosing.  It also works when we don’t want it to when we have negative thoughts that we feed through our attention.  This can also create an opposing energy and slow down the things we do want to manifest in our lives.

Higher vibrations automatically consume lower ones.  What does this mean?  It means that the energy of love, compassion, empathy and gratitude overpower the energy of fear, hate, judgment, division and so on.  These are some of the highest vibrations that human beings have access to and when we are focused in this way the lower frequencies cannot survive or come to you.  Try it out and you will see what I mean.  It can’t be conjured or fake though it has to be the real deal.  Think about your child being born and that feeling of unconditional love that you felt.  This is the vibration that I am referring to.  When you feel it nothing can diminish it.   If the child is in danger you jump into action even if your own life could be threatened.  This is the power of the vibration of love and this is just one example.

These two energy principles alone are enough for the purposes of what I would like to share with you today.  It is imperative that we shift our attention and our thoughts away from the fear driven news of the day and into what we wish to see manifest on the planet now.  I for one do not want to dwell in news that puts me in a state of ongoing fear.  I have had enough for a life time.  Maybe you have too?  If so then you are ready to unplug from the lower vibrational energy and plug into the higher energies that are always available to you.  It’s not as hard as you might think.

Simply coming into the present is one quick and easy way that Eckhart Tolle’ talks about all the time.  It is simple to do and most of the time it is enjoyable.  Think about it.  Most of the time not much is happening to us in the present moment.  Except when there is a crisis or emergency and then we have to deal with it in the present anyway so its the perfect place to hang out.  Another great place to practice presence is in nature or even with one special tree or plant.  Being fully present in or with nature can be instantly refreshing, restful and beautiful.  In those moments worries and fears do not exist.  It does take practice to eclipse your fears and worries with presence but it’s totally worth doing and you will reap the benefits very quickly.  Let me be clear I’m not saying to ignore danger or an imminent threat. I’m saying  be aware of negative thoughts and be sure that it is something you can deal with now.  If it’s not then no amount of thought or worry will be helpful and in fact will quickly sap you of energy.

Another easy way to raise your vibration is to focus on someone or something that you love unconditionally.  Like a child, a beloved pet or something that inspires awe.  Feel what this feels like in your body and focus on it and it will expand throughout your entire being.  This is not a Pollyanna principle its actually how energy works so you might as well use it to your advantage.  These are just two examples but there are so many more.  Listening to beautiful music, being grateful, cultivating compassion, being of help to someone who needs it.   I could go on and on but I think you get the idea. If you are feeling too burdened or bogged down to focus yourself this way don’t worry, it happens. The sooner you become aware the greater your opportunity is to show yourself some love and acceptance and this yet another way to vibrate higher.

I know that many of your don’t realize how much inherent power these small practices have. You will effect the people around you and even impact the planet for the better. Your vibration creates a ripple effect that goes out into the world and those ripples help to neutralize the negative low frequency energy that is all around us.  This is needed now more than ever!!

We have a tremendous opportunity to transform and evolve to higher levels of consciousness but we need all hands on deck and you are playing a critical role.

Shine your light brighter than ever.

Everyday Miracles

As I sit during my morning meditation I became aware of all the sounds and sensations around me. The birds chirping outside, the sound of my cat washing and her warmth against my leg. The crackle and pop of the heat switching on in my room. Feeling cozy under a heavy quilt. Somehow everything seemed so sweet and I found myself in deep awe over these everyday sights, sounds and sensations.

I was reading an article by Dr. Christine Runyan where she suggests that we look with curiosity at the world around us and savor what we see, feel and hear. She goes on to say, “that what we notice can be as ordinary as the way the light catches the curtains. If we put some effort towards noticing that which is neutral, if we can really notice, most things even neutral things become pleasant, because they become fascinating.”

What she is suggesting is actually the practice of presence. This can be done with the eyes open or closed and all that is required is to become acutely aware of what is happening around you and taking it in as if you’re seeing, feeling or hearing it for the first time. It can be like a healing balm for your mind and your nervous system.

Let’s face it we are all growing weary of the news and the next virus mutation, wearing masks or not wearing them, vaccinations, rules and guidelines constantly changing. Even the prospect of life opening back up can be met with some trepidation and stress. The stress can cause us to feel nervous and disconnected from our center and the ongoing effects of it can be exponential.

This little practice can be so soothing to the mind and body and is felt immediately. Viewing the world and taking it in with freshness and innocence. Yes, I’ve heard the birds outside thousands of times but taking it in anew can be so nourishing and healing.  Eckhart Tolle’ says that we immediately label everything the moment we see it allowing us to quickly put it into a category and dismiss it. He reminds us to lift these labels and take life in without them. Really take in the majesty of an amazing tree being rooted in your yard rather than passing it each day blind to its beauty. Or the incredible winged creatures we call birds that can fly anywhere they wish without hesitation. A bird, a tree, the sunlight or moonlight these are the everyday miracles if we really take the time to drink them in. How about looking around your home and noticing how its decorated or your favorite chair? We can do this with everything and when we do it can be quite spectacular!

Looking with fresh eyes feeds your soul.

I bet you can’t guess what this is? You’ll never guess.

A piece of paper in a muddy puddle! To me it almost looks like a line drawing!

Or how about this?

Smiley face in tree trunk.

What if…

Is healing moving from a sick state to a state of wellness?   Or perhaps it is making peace with what is.

Healing implies there is something needing to be fixed.  A person in need of healing is needing to be delivered someplace that they currently are not.  It means the sick person or an emotionally unstable person is in need of something that they don’t have naturally.

Maybe to heal means nothing of the sort.  Are we missing the boat all together?  Maybe healing is as effortless as a flower blooming.  What if healing behaved like the ocean ebbing and flowing endlessly and freely?  What if healing is as natural as being awed by the night sky?  What if healing were one big game of Russian roulette and your destiny is already in the cards?

What if it’s all one giant game and when we leave this planet we realize that we were just participating in one big experiment to teach our souls how to play?  What if we are all just spiritual beings who have elected to have a human experience?

What if all of this is supposed to teach us lessons that can’t be learned any other way and when you learn what you came for its time to go?  What if dying means you’re freed to move on into a realm where polarity does not exist, there are no governments and you are free from this dense physical realm?  What if dying is as easy as taking off a heavy winter coat and letting it fall to the floor?

Is it someones destiny to get well and another to get sick and die?  Can we make new decisions that effect our destiny?

I don’t know about you but these days have me contemplating my humanity and coming face to face with not knowing.  I don’t know the answers to these questions but I do feel in my bones that there is a power greater than me. These are the mysteries that keep me on my toes and alert!

Part of my daily practice is to make space inside myself for the unknown and some days I’m good with this and other days, well, you know how it goes.

Today I feel lighter and unexpectedly more liberated from this contemplation and I hope you do too.

Can there really be an end to Karma?

“Every situation is a challenge which demands the right response.  When the response is right, the challenge is met and the problem ceases.  If the response is wrong , the challenge is not met and the problem remains unsolved.  Your unsolved problems- is what constitutes your karma.  Solve them rightly and be free.”

-Sri Nisargadatta Maharaj

I love the simplicity of this quote by Nisargadatta Maharaj an Indian sage who lived from 1897-1981.  I have to say it has evoked a rich contemplation for me.

I’ve  thought long and hard about this and here is what I’ve come up with.  When dealing with challenges or problems two things are needed.

 1. Come into right relationship with the situation

 2. Have the right response.

What does it mean to come into right relationship with a problem or issue?  Basically it comes down to acceptance.  Acceptance of what is.  What that means is non-resistance to the situation or to the feelings that arise about the situation.

Don’t go into thinking, “oh, why did this happen to me?” and, ‘how did I cause this?” Don’t waste your time and energy trying to figure it out.  Use that energy to accept what is or what has happened.

Once you have accepted and felt your feelings fully then clarity about the right response can arise.   You may have to slow everything down and give yourself time to do this.   It’s almost like clearing away the clouds so that you can see the sky.

One more thing just to be clear.  What is right response? It can be an action or a state of mind or being.  A example of this is if someone steps on your foot and it causes you pain the response that is automatic is to pull your foot away and maybe say, “ouch!!”  There is no thinking needed the situation clearly dictated the response.  Every situation has a right response but when we are clouded by doubts, unmet feelings and anger we can’t discern what that is and our natural spontaneity is thwarted.  I know the example about having your foot stepped on seems ultra-simple and many of you might be saying, “of course your response is automatic!”  When you have cleared away the clouds of your personal reactivity and you are not resisting the right response will arise automatically even in complex situations.  You are at a higher vibrations and alignment when you  learn to transcend the personal level and open to what is right and true in the moment.  You become one with your true self which is both the body and mind but also beyond them.  You are a non-physical being or spiritual being that is one with universal knowledge and knowing. That should give you something to ponder!

Developing awareness in this way can help us to take responsibility quickly so that we can respond sooner rather than later and in this way transmute challenges and dissolve karma. Now more than ever as the earth’s vibration rises we are able to dissolve and transmute our karma much more quickly and with greater ease.

As always, when dealing with highly charged issues be gentle, kind and patient with yourself.
